A tiny guide to big traps

Move: slide one cat horizontally or vertically through empty squares. No jumping or diagonal moves.

Capture: finish your move with a rival between two of your cats in a straight line. The board edge is never a capturing cat. At a corner, occupy both inward neighbours.

Safe entry: moving between rivals is safe until they make a new trapping move.

Win: leave your opponent with fewer than two cats, or no legal move. First to two wins takes a best-of-three series.

These rules are a modern reconstruction; the ancient Roman rules are incomplete.
